A Venetian mirror in the rococo taste, Italy, twentieth century. The shaped frame carved in openwork with C-scrolls, acanthus and flower heads, surmounted by a shell cresting and answered by a conforming shell at the base. The lacquered and parcel-gilt surface has mellowed to a soft tone. A modest size that suits a hall, a bathroom or the wall above a small commode — an honest, decorative piece rather than a period one.

Provenance: San Luca Casa d'Aste, lot 930, May 2025; acquired by Urnica.
Condition: Gilding and lacquer with age patina; minor small losses to the extremities of the carving, left as found; plate clear.

Antiques are not parcels. Small pieces that fit a box are sent by courier at a calculated rate; anything that needs a crate or two people is quoted individually, usually within a day. Collection from the house in Meda is always welcome, and we can hold a piece for you until you are ready.

Returns

Buyers in the European Union may return a piece within fourteen days of delivery without giving a reason, in the condition in which it was received; the direct cost of the return journey is borne by the buyer. We would rather you asked every question first — a piece that arrives exactly as described rarely goes back.
