A trumeau mirror in the Louis XV taste, France, late nineteenth century. The frame painted ivory and parcel-gilt. The upper panel holds an oil painting of Cupid with bow and arrows, standing on a pedestal wreathed in roses, within a carved and gilded rocaille border; below, an arched bevelled mirror plate framed by gilt mouldings. Made for the pier between two windows, and tall enough to carry a bedroom or salon wall on its own.

Provenance: D.G.W. Auctioneers & Appraisers, lot 44, August 2024; acquired by Urnica.
Condition: Paint and gilding with age wear throughout, as expected; the painted panel in good order; the bevelled plate clear.

Antiques are not parcels. Small pieces that fit a box are sent by courier at a calculated rate; anything that needs a crate or two people is quoted individually, usually within a day. Collection from the house in Meda is always welcome, and we can hold a piece for you until you are ready.

Returns

Buyers in the European Union may return a piece within fourteen days of delivery without giving a reason, in the condition in which it was received; the direct cost of the return journey is borne by the buyer. We would rather you asked every question first — a piece that arrives exactly as described rarely goes back.
