An Italian gondola chair in the Empire taste, the mahogany-stained frame carved and gilded with palmettes, rosettes and stylised foliage. The curved back sweeps into short scrolled arms above a seat rail applied with gilt anthemion ornament, on turned front legs and sabre back legs. Upholstered in a blue and cream striped silk. A decorative occasional chair for a bedroom, dressing room or beside a writing table.
