An Italian architectural cresting or overdoor in the Baroque taste, nineteenth century and later, painted ivory and parcel-gilt. The broken pediment is centred by an arched mirror plate flanked by boldly carved volutes, scrolling harebells and acanthus leaves, with paterae to the outer ends. With a newly boarded back, it can be hung above a doorway, bed or chimneypiece as a dramatic decorative element.

Condition: Mirror plate later; repainted and regilded throughout; numerous small knocks and dents but fair cosmetic order for age and use.
